A Nice WW1 1914 Star Trio, M.I.D, L.S.&.G.C., M.S.M Medal Group awarded to S-32176 Sjt M.G.L. Cox, H.Q 4th Division Army Service Corps/Royal Army Service Corps.

Mervyn Gerald Landown Cox was born on the 1st June, 1891, at Leigh, Dorset. Prior to joining the ranks of the Army Service Corps, he was employed as a clerk.

Mervyn disembarked France on the 23rd August 1914 with the H.Q 4th Division Army Service Corps, initially working as a driver.

He was mentioned in despatches for ‘distinguished and gallant services and devotion to duty’ - the London Gazette of the 4th of January 1917 refers.

Mervyn was later awarded the Meritourious Service Medal ‘in recognition of valuable services rendered with the Armies in the Field during the present war - the London Gazette of the 1st of Janusary 1918 refers.

The 1939 Census refers to Mervyn as an Army Clerk Pensioner.

The medals are mounted as worn (two ribbons are very distressed), sold with copied research confirming the above and that all five medals are to the same man, and they are as follows -
