A WW1 Casualty Medal Pair to 8575 Pte F. H. Griffiths, 7th Bn the Hampshire Regiment, who was killed in action on 28 April 1915 during the First Battle of Krithia.
Frederick Henry Griffiths was born at Stratford, Essex he was the son of George Hirst Griffiths and Lilian Griffiths, of 208 Green St., Forest Gate, London. He enlisted at Winchester and entered the war in the Balkans on 25 April 1915 landing at 'V' beach and was killed in action on 28 April 1915 whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion. The regiment suffering heavy casualties that day. Griffiths is commemorated on the Helles Memorial; sold together with remains of a named postage envelope.
