An Unusual Order of St John Serving Brother’s Badge, B.E.M., General Service Medal, clasp Malaya, St John Service Medal Group to E.E.K. Griffith, Royal Artillery, S.J.A.B., R.N.L.I. & British Rail.

Evan Eric Kenneth Griffith was born on the 5th of November 1931 at Barmouth, Gywnedd, North West Wales.

During the Malayan Emergency (1948 - 1960), Evan served as 22339870 Gunner Griffith in the Royal Artillery, where they provided critical fire suport to British and Commonwealth units fighting the communist terrorists, as well as providing defensive support. The Royal Artillery were originally equipped with 25 pounder field guns, and then 105mm howitzers.

Evans main occupation was working as a technician for British Rail, but he was also a volunteer with the St. John’s Ambulance and the Bidmouth R.N.L.I. station, where he worked as an Assistant Mechanic and part of the boat crew.

For his service working as a Technician, Barmouth, London Midland Region, British Rail, he was awarded the British Empire Medal, (Civil Division) - London Gazette 16th June 1984 refers.

He was later appointed as a Serving Brother of The Most Venerable Order of The Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem - London Gazette 28th of October 1992 refers.

Evan passed away on the 6th of September 1994, at Barmouth.
