A WW1 'Battle of Cambrai' Killed in Action Casualty Medal Pair & Death Plaque/Penny awarded to 24551 Pte H. Chapman, 2nd/6th Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

Horace Chapman was from the Coventry area and served with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment during WW1.

He was serving with the 2nd/6th Battalion during the Battle of Cambrai when he was killed in action on the 3rd of December 1917.

The 2nd/6th engaged in the intensive defensive operations and line-holding following the initial British breakthrough and the subsequent German counter-offensive around La Vacquerie. Like so many soldiers from the regiment who fell during these fierce counter-attacks, they have no known grave, and Horace Chapman being one of them, is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial at Louverval.

The medals are mounted for wear on replacement ribbons, sold with copied research confirming the above, and are as follows -
