A WW1 1914 Star "Wounded" Medal Trio awarded to 8775 Pte. J. Egerton, 2nd Battallion, the Highland Light Infantry.
James Egerton enlisted into the army on the 4th August 1904, joining the ranks of the 2nd Battalion, the Highland Light Infantry.
The 2nd Battalion landed in France on the 14th August 1914, where they were to experience heavy fighting during the Retreat from Mons, the Battle of Aisne, and then the 1st Battle of Ypres.
Pte Egerton is listed as “Wounded” on the 11th November 1914, which would more or less coinside with the 1st Battle of Ypres.
Pte Egerton is entitled to Silver War Badge No.163274, and he was medically discharged, due to “Wounds”, on the 23rd July 1915.
